How to Choose Good Bananas
- Choose banana bunches that are not uniformly colored (some ripe, some green) and have dark or deep pink spots.
- Do not choose those that are uniformly ripe with dark yellow skin.
- Naturally ripe bananas will have a yellow stem and body. If the stem is green but the fruit is uniformly yellow, it has definitely been soaked in chemicals.
- Tree-ripened bananas will have a fragrant smell and natural sweetness, evenly soft. On the other hand, chemically treated bananas will feel slightly firm, hard, and have a bitter and sour taste.

How to make steamed banana rice cake

Mix the cake batter
Sift 150g of wheat flour, 200g of rice flour into a bowl, then add 50g of sugar, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 250ml of coconut milk, 150ml of water, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Next, use a whisk to stir the batter mixture until it is smooth and free of lumps.

Cook the cake batter
Place a non-stick pan on the stove, add the batter mixture, and stir continuously over low heat until the batter thickens, becomes chewy, and sticks together.

Cut banana
Peel the banana, then cut it into 4 equal parts.

Wrap the cake
Spread a thin layer of dough evenly on the banana leaf, place a piece of banana on top, then cover it with another layer of dough.
Next, fold the edges of the banana leaf over to completely cover the filling inside, then fold the two side edges down to secure the cake.
Tip: To prevent the banana leaf from tearing when wrapping the cake, you should warm the banana leaf over the fire to soften it, briefly boil the banana leaf, or sun-dry the leaf for about 10 minutes. -
Steam the cake
Place the cake in a steamer, put the steamer over a pot of boiling water, cover tightly, and steam the cake for 20 minutes.
