What is bud pumpkin?
- Bud pumpkin, also known as gourd flower, is harvested when the pumpkin is still young, meaning the stem has not shed its flower yet. At this time, the pumpkin is very young, only about the size of two fingertips.
- The flower is the edible part with a slightly orange-yellow color – the stamen is slightly bitter, while the tiny pumpkin cut open will have a beautiful bright yellow color.
- From bud pumpkin, you can prepare many dishes with different flavors that are good for health such as: boiled bud pumpkin, stir-fried, cooked in soup, hot pot,…
How to choose fresh and delicious bud pumpkin
- Choose bud pumpkins that still have their flowers in bud form, not fully bloomed, and still have fine hairs, avoid purchasing bud pumpkins with damaged flowers.
- The young pumpkin below the flower must be firm, with a smooth, green outer skin, not rough.
- You can buy bud pumpkin at supermarket chains and large markets. If buying at a market, you should go in the morning as that is when the bud pumpkins are freshly harvested and brought out for sale, still fresh.
