How to make chocolate Nutella stuffed fried donuts
-
Mix the dough
Add 2 eggs, 2 egg yolks, 35g of sugar, 1/8 teaspoon of salt, 150ml of warm milk, and 1 teaspoon of yeast into a bowl. Use a whisk to mix until the mixture is well combined and the sugar is completely dissolved.
Next, add 400g of flour and mix well until the dough sticks together.
Tip:
- The temperature of the milk to activate the yeast should be between 32 – 38 degrees Celsius (not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius), it should not be hotter as it will kill the yeast or weaken its activity.
- If using instant dry yeast, you do not need to activate the yeast with warm milk.
-
Knead the dough
Use your hands to knead the dough for about 5 minutes to form a mass, then cover tightly and let it rest for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, add 50g of unsalted butter and continue kneading the dough until it becomes soft and smooth, and does not stick to your hands when touched.
Next, cover the dough tightly and let it rise for 1.5 hours at room temperature until it doubles in size.
-
Roll the dough and shape it
Brush the dough with a little cooking oil to prevent sticking, then place the dough on the table and roll it out to a thickness of about 1/2 of a small finger.
Next, use a round mold to cut the donuts, cover them with a layer of plastic wrap, and let them rise for a second time for another hour at room temperature.
Tip: If you don’t have a round mold, you can use the bottom of a glass to cut the donuts! -
Fry the donuts
Pour enough oil into 2/3 of the pan, let the oil heat up and then reduce the heat to medium. Next, add the donuts to fry.
Fry until the donuts are cooked and have an even golden color, then remove them and place them on a plate lined with paper towels.
Note:
- When adding the donuts to fry, place the puffed side down.
- It is advisable to fry the donuts with plenty of oil, and only add about 2 – 3 donuts at a time so that they cook and puff evenly.
-
Fill with filling and coat with sugar
In a bowl, add 50g of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder, then mix well.
Use chopsticks to poke a small hole on the side of the donut, fill it with chocolate Nutella, and roll it in the bowl of sugar.
-
Final Product
The donut has a lightly crispy outer layer, sweet and fragrant with cinnamon, while the inside is soft and chewy, filled with sweet and bitter melted chocolate, extremely appealing.
