How to Make Coffee Cream Flan
-
Cook the milk mixture
First, add 600ml of fresh milk, 35gr of cornstarch, 1/6 teaspoon of salt, and 40gr of sugar into a pot. Place it on the stove and cook on high heat until the milk boils.
While cooking, stir continuously to dissolve the sugar and cornstarch completely.
Tip:- Stir continuously close to the bottom to prevent the milk from burning.
- Do not cook too long, or the milk will overcook and the final product will become hard.
When the milk boils, lower the heat to medium and continuously stir until the mixture simmers gently and bubbles form. Next, reduce the heat to low and add 8g of vanilla sugar, stirring well.
Then, add 25g of unsalted butter and continue stirring until the butter melts. When the mixture boils again, turn off the heat.
Next, pour the cooked milk into a cup and let it cool.
-
Cook the coconut milk mixture
Add 300ml of coconut milk, 12g of cornstarch, a pinch of salt, and stir well, then cook over medium-low heat for about 1-2 minutes until the mixture is slightly warm, then turn off the heat.
-
Make caramel
Add 40g of sugar to the pot and cook over medium heat.
When the syrup gradually turns a dark color, reduce the heat to low, continue to stir well, and add 20g of butter. When adding the butter, lift the pot off the heat and stir until the butter melts.
-
Make coconut coffee cream
When the butter has completely melted, place the pot back on the stove and reduce the heat to the lowest setting. Divide the cooked coconut milk mixture into 3 – 4 parts, pouring in the coconut milk while stirring well to combine the ingredients.
Once all the coconut milk mixture has been added, add 1 teaspoon of instant coffee and stir well, then increase to medium heat until you see the mixture boiling with bubbles, indicating completion.
-
Completion
Pour the coconut coffee cream mixture that you just cooked on top of the cooled milk in the glass from step 1.
Tip: Allow the milk layer to cool down before adding the cream; otherwise, the two layers will mix together.Wrap the glass tightly with aluminum foil and let it cool completely outside, then refrigerate until ready to enjoy.

So the coconut coffee flan is now complete. It’s a truly delicious dessert that is incredibly simple, right? The colors are harmonious, with the milk layer blending with the rich, fragrant coconut coffee base.
Your family members will surely be “smitten” from the very first taste! When enjoying, you can sprinkle some crushed nuts on top and it’s best served cold.
