How to choose fresh ingredients
How to choose fresh chicken eggs
- Eggshell: Fresh eggs will have a thin white powdery layer on the outside, and when touched, they feel rough or heavy. If the eggshell is smooth, shiny, or has cracks, it means the eggs have been stored for a long time and are not fresh.
- Shine a light: You can shine a light on the chicken eggs using a lamp or by rolling up a newspaper and shining it under sunlight. If you see the air cell of the egg is still small, the yolk is round and does not move, and the white is clear with an orange-red or pale pink color, then it is a fresh egg. In the case of old eggs, they will have a red color with many moving veins and a large air cell.
- Shake gently: Hold the egg up to your ear and shake gently. If you hear a sound, it means the egg is old and has been stored for a long time. If there is no sound but you feel the egg moving strongly, it indicates the egg is rotten, and the hen is still incubating…
- If possible, you should use a 10% salt solution to drop the eggs into. If the eggs sink to the bottom of the water, they are fresh eggs laid on the same day. If the eggs float to the surface, they have been stored for more than 5 days.
How to choose fresh and delicious tomatoes
- Natural ripe tomatoes have a plump skin and bright red color. If you pay close attention, you will notice speckles in the flesh of the fruit through the skin. When you cut the fruit, you will see the bright red pulp with a lot of pulp and white seeds.
- You should choose firm fruits, avoid soft ones as they spoil very quickly.
- If the stem of the tomato is green and firmly attached to the body, it means the fruit has ripened naturally.
- Compared to naturally ripened tomatoes, those treated with chemicals usually lack fragrance, are not red, and are quite hard. When cooked, these tomatoes take a long time to soften, have little pulp, and a pale red color.
How to choose fresh and delicious potatoes
- You should choose potatoes that are firm, heavy, intact, and have a smooth skin surface.
- Yellow potatoes will be tastier and sweeter compared to those that are slightly white.
- Avoid choosing shriveled potatoes, those that feel soft when squeezed, or have black eyes, are rotten, or leaking water.
- Absolutely avoid choosing potatoes with green skin or sprouting, as they are extremely dangerous to health.
How to choose fresh and delicious bell peppers
- When buying bell peppers, you should choose those with a glossy, thick, smooth skin and still have the stem attached. You should buy the heavier ones with bright colors, as these are fresh, tasty, and nutritious bell peppers.
- Avoid choosing bell peppers that are soft, not firm to the touch, or have blemishes and cracks on the skin, as these are spoiled and have lost their nutrients.
- Additionally, you should only buy bell peppers at reputable food stores or large supermarket chains to ensure the products have been quality checked and have a clear origin.
How to choose delicious Vietnamese pork sausage
- Delicious Vietnamese pork sausage has an off-white color when sliced, a light fragrant smell, a surface with many holes, and is slightly moist, not dry.
- If the sausage is crumbly, lacks fragrance, or has a surface without holes, it may have been mixed with flour. Additionally, if the sausage is unusually chewy, it indicates it has been mixed with borax.
- To ensure food safety, you can make Vietnamese pork sausage at home using a recipe shared by Tastetutorial.com.

How to make Mixed Toasted Bread
-
Mix the dough and beat the eggs
First, separate 1 egg yolk (to brush the surface of the bread when baking), and put the remaining egg into a bowl.
Next, add 1g of instant yeast, 5g of baking powder, 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 70ml of unsweetened fresh milk into the bowl with the egg.
Mix well until the ingredients are combined and let the dough rest for 15 minutes.
Note: Do not add salt directly onto the yeast as it will kill the yeast or weaken its activity. You should mix the flour with the salt first before adding the yeast. -
Prepare the vegetables
Peel the potatoes, wash them clean with water, then shred them. After that, use your hands to squeeze out the excess water from the potatoes.
Next, peel the tomatoes, then dice them. Dice the bell peppers, onions, cheese slices, pork sausage, and hot dogs in the same manner.
Finally, chop the green onions, celery, and coriander finely.
-
Mix vegetables with flour
Add all the pre-processed ingredients along with 100g of mozzarella cheese into the bowl of flour and mix well, then let the mixture rest for another 15 minutes.
-
Bake the bread
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.
Prepare a rectangular mold lined with parchment paper, then pour the flour mixture in with a thickness of about 2 small finger joints. Bake the bread for the first time at 180 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes.
Dissolve 1 egg yolk with green onions, celery, and coriander, then spread this mixture on the surface of the bread.
Next, bake the bread for the second time at 200 degrees Celsius for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
-
Final Product
When the bread is done, you cut it into small bite-sized pieces and can enjoy it in the morning with a glass of warm milk.
The mixed toasted bread just out of the oven smells fantastic, with a soft and fluffy texture, slightly chewy, blending perfectly with the mixed filling, rich in cheese flavor. You can serve it with chili sauce to enhance the delicious flavor of the bread!
