How to make French toast using an air fryer
-
Prepare the egg and milk mixture
You prepare a bowl, crack 4 eggs into it, add 160ml of fresh milk, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder, and then use a whisk to mix until well combined.
-
Soak the bread
You dip each slice of bread into the egg and milk mixture, ensuring both sides of the bread are evenly soaked. You should only let the bread soak lightly; do not soak it too long as the bread may disintegrate or the final product will be too soft.
-
Toast the bread
You preheat the air fryer to 180 degrees Celsius for 3 – 5 minutes. Then, you take out the frying basket, spray a layer of cooking oil on it or line it with parchment paper.
You arrange the slices of bread in the frying basket, spray a thin layer of oil on top of the bread, and then fry at 180 degrees Celsius for about 4 minutes. After that, you pull the frying basket out, flip the bread, and fry for another 4 minutes, and it’s done.
-
Decorate and Enjoy
After the bread is baked, take it out and place it on a wire rack for 3 – 5 minutes to let it dry and become crispier. When eating, you can enjoy the bread with a small pat of butter, maple syrup, or honey, along with optional fresh fruits such as sliced bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries,…
The French toast after baking will have a golden brown crust, lightly crispy on the outside but still soft and moist on the inside. You should enjoy it while it’s still hot to fully appreciate its delicious flavor.
Useful tips for successfully making French toast
- Spray cooking oil into the air fryer basket: This will prevent the bread from sticking to the basket, making it easier for you to flip the French toast and ensuring a crispy crust after frying.
- Use the right type of sandwich bread: Using thick-sliced sandwich bread that is slightly dry will make the dish tastier as it absorbs the egg mixture without falling apart like fresh bread.
- Do not stack the bread in the air fryer: You should leave some space between each slice of bread to allow hot air to circulate evenly around the bread, helping it cook evenly and achieve a beautiful golden color.
With the air fryer, making French toast has become simpler and quicker than ever. Try this recipe now to bring a delicious and nutritious breakfast to your family.
