How to make Yogurt with condensed milk
-
Dilute the condensed milk
Put 1 can of condensed milk into a bowl, then use the same can to measure 1 can of boiling water and add it to the condensed milk, stirring the mixture until well blended.
Continue to add 1.5 cans of cooled boiling water to the milk mixture and stir until the milk is dissolved.
-
Mix the mixture with the yogurt starter
Add 1 container of yogurt into the diluted condensed milk in the bowl, and use a sieve to filter the milk mixture until smooth.
Note: Before adding the yogurt starter, ensure that the condensed milk is warm but not too hot (about 32 – 40 degrees Celsius) to avoid killing the yeast and failing to set the yogurt. -
Yogurt Fermentation
Pour the yogurt into a large jug, then slowly pour the yogurt mixture into the yogurt jars and seal the jars tightly, or you can use a plastic bag secured with a rubber band!
Place the yogurt jars in a pot, fill with warm water at about 50 degrees Celsius until it covers 2/3 of the yogurt jars, then seal the lid and cover with a cloth, and let it ferment at room temperature for about 5 – 8 hours.
Once the yogurt has fermented for the right amount of time, you can place the yogurt in the freezer refrigerator if you prefer a firmer texture, or in the refrigerator’s cool compartment if you like it softer.
Tip:
- To ensure even fermentation of the yogurt during the process, do not move the pot!
- Additionally, you can ferment the yogurt using a rice cooker by filling it with warm water up to 2/3 of the yogurt jars, covering the lid, and letting it sit for about 5 – 8 hours without plugging it in.
