Wash the sticky rice thoroughly with water, then drain and divide it into 5 equal parts.
Wash the black beans. Then boil them with 500ml of water for about 20 minutes to extract the color, turn off the heat and let it cool completely.
Tip: If you have time, you should soak the beans in clean water for about 5 – 7 hours before cooking to obtain a more beautiful color from the soaked black bean water.
Wash the pandan leaves and let them drain. Put a pot on the stove, bring 500ml of water to a boil, then add the pandan leaves and stir for about 10 minutes to extract the color, then turn off the heat and let it cool completely.
Pick the leaves of the bitter herb, wash them thoroughly, and drain. Add the bitter herb leaves to a blender with 500ml of water, blend for about 30 seconds at medium speed, then strain to obtain the juice.
Tip: Since the color of the sticky rice made from the bitter herb will be quite light after cooking, you should increase the amount of bitter herb leaves or add a little pandan leaves.
Peel the carrot, wash it, and cut it into small pieces. Gradually put the carrot into a juicer to extract the juice, then mix the carrot juice with 500ml of clean water and 1/2 teaspoon of red annatto powder.

Soak the sticky rice
Prepare 5 large bowls. Pour the prepared colored water into 4 bowls, and in the remaining bowl, add 500ml of clean water. Then divide the sticky rice into 5 portions and soak in each bowl for 6 – 8 hours (can soak overnight).
After soaking, drain the soaking water, rinse with clean water once, and let it dry. Take each portion of sticky rice and mix with 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of cooking oil (or fat).

Steam the sticky rice
Place each portion of sticky rice mixed with salt and cooking oil into each corner of the steamer. Use chopsticks to poke a few holes in each portion of sticky rice to allow steam to escape.
Bring a pot of water to a boil and place the steamer on top to steam for about 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the colors will have absorbed into the sticky rice grains; use a spoon to mix all the portions together, spread them evenly in the steamer, and steam for about 30 – 40 minutes over medium heat.
Turn off the heat, drizzle an additional 3 teaspoons of cooking oil, and mix well to make each grain of sticky rice shiny and firmer, then turn on the heat to steam for another 5 minutes before turning off the heat. Serve the sticky rice on a plate.
