How to Choose Fresh Ingredients
How to choose fresh chives
- You should choose chives that are bright green, with crisp leaves that are not wilted, and the stems and flowers are still young.
- Additionally, when buying, you should try snapping off a stem of chives. If it snaps easily and is crisp, it is freshly harvested and delicious; on the contrary, if it feels tough and hard to snap, it’s old chives and you shouldn’t buy it!
- To ensure chives are clean and free from pesticides, you should buy chives from Tastetutorial.com or reputable stores and supermarkets!
How to choose good tofu, free of gypsum
- Good tofu without gypsum will have an off-white color, feel light when lifted, and have a smooth surface with a faint delicious soybean smell.
- Avoid mistakenly buying pieces of tofu that are yellowish, feel heavy when lifted, and have a faint smell of lime, as these pieces contain added gypsum, which can be very harmful to your health if consumed.
- To ensure safety, you should buy tofu from reputable tofu production shops or you can try making tofu at home with simple steps guided by Tastetutorial.com.
How to choose fresh and delicious mushrooms
- When buying, you should prioritize choosing freshly picked mushrooms with a little dirt still on the stem, which are usually sold at local markets.
- Additionally, good mushrooms will have a distinctive aroma, not bruised, watery, or mushy when touched.
- Avoid buying mushrooms with unusual smells, gradually turning yellow, as these mushrooms are spoiled and no longer usable.
- To make your dish more appealing and delicious, you can use any type of mushroom you or your family love, such as: lingzhi mushrooms, chicken leg mushrooms, oyster mushrooms,… to cook this soup!
